fLORA

The Brecon Beacons are home to a rich variety of plant life, shaped by the region’s diverse landscapes. From windswept moorlands to sheltered woodlands, each area offers its own unique flora. On the high hills, look out for heather, bilberry, and cotton grass. In limestone areas, wildflowers such as orchids and rock-rose thrive, adding colour to the summer months.

Lower down, ancient oak and ash woodlands burst into life in spring with carpets of bluebells and wild garlic. Rare species, like the Llanthony whitebeam — found only in this part of Wales — highlight the park’s botanical importance.
