Sgwd Gwladys, also known as “Lady’s Falls,” is one of the most picturesque waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons’ renowned Waterfall Country. Nestled along the Afon Pyrddin river, this 30-foot cascade is named after a legendary Welsh princess and is easily accessible via a scenic woodland walk. The waterfall gracefully spills over a natural rock ledge into a shallow plunge pool, making it a popular spot for visitors to admire its beauty or even dip their toes in the water.
Four Waterfalls
14.5 miles from the centre
The Four Waterfalls Walk near Neath is one of the most scenic and rewarding hikes in Waterfall Country, located in the Brecon Beacons National Park. This circular trail takes you through lush woodlands, steep gorges, and along the banks of the River Mellte, leading to four stunning waterfalls: Sgwd Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr, and Sgwd yr Eira. Each waterfall has its own unique charm, with Sgwd yr Eira being the most famous, as you can walk behind its powerful cascade. The route, though moderately challenging with some steep and uneven sections, is well worth the effort, offering breath-taking views and the chance to experience the raw beauty of Wales’ waterfall-rich landscape.
Henrhyd Waterfall
6.4 miles from the centre
Henrhyd Waterfall is the crown jewel of “Waterfall Country” in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
At 90 feet, it stands as the tallest waterfall in South Wales and even served as a filming location for The Dark Knight Rises, where it doubled as the entrance to the Batcave.
This spectacular waterfall is especially impressive after heavy rainfall, making it a must-visit destination if you’re in the area.
Sychryd Waterfall
11 miles from the centre
Tucked away in the Sychryd Gorge lies a small, secluded waterfall, gracefully crossed by a wooden footbridge.
While it may not be the largest or most dramatic waterfall in Brecon Beacons’ “Waterfall Country,” its hidden charm, fairytale-like surroundings, and peaceful solitude make it a perfect escape for those looking to avoid the crowds.
Sgwd y Pannwr Waterfall
16 miles from the centre
Sgwd y Pannwr is a beautiful, wide-flowing waterfall along the Afon Mellte, found on the Four Waterfalls Walk in the Brecon Beacons.
